Author Submissions
Mama Whittle wants to provide a home for those writers who don't want to work with one of the big publishing houses. We want to provide an environment for helping writers learn the process of publishing and having an active role in getting their manuscripts published.
That means we will keep open communication with our writers giving them updates on the process of getting their manuscripts accepted and then taking them from the initial document to the final published work.
Our motto "Stories That Open Up Worlds" is not just a message for our readers but for our authors. We truly mean that every book should be a personal experience. As a reader you should find a story that touches your heart or imagination, poetry that fosters deep emotion, and graphic novels that blend art and the magic of storytelling.
We focus on well-written stories, heartfelt poetry, and eye-catching graphic novels.
We want works from our author's heart that take our readers on a voyage that is more than seeing art or words a the page; we believe it should be an experience.
Submission Guidelines
Please follow these guidelines in submitting your work to Mama Whittle Publishing House:
Standard Manuscript

12-point serif fonts (usually Times New Roman), double-spaced lines, 1-inch margins on all sides, and 0.5-inch paragraph indents with no extra spaces between paragraphs.

Include the first 3 chapters (or 50 pages).
Poetry

Book-length poetry collections should have a minimum page count of 50 to 70 pages.

Individual poems should be submitted in an individual count of no less than 30.

Poems should be single-spaced within stanzas, with a double-space between stanzas. Each new poem should start on a fresh page.
Graphic Novel

A comprehensive visual proposal

Logline/overview, a 1-page synopsis, character descriptions/model sheets, a full or partial script broken down by page and panel, and 5 to 10 pages of fully finished sequential art (penciled, inked, and lettered).
